DETOXING – THE NATURAL WAY TO LOOK YEARS YOUNGER!

Most people believe detoxing is about deprivation. The thought of going without coffee, tea, chocolate and booze even for a day can send some people into a real tizz! Detoxing though can help you cleanse and replenish your body simultaneously. Instead of being a deprivation, what if detoxing could give you even more of what you really want?

Food is used by millions of people as a comfort and distraction, to avoid dealing with uncomfortable feelings and avoid reality! Food is the biggest drug of ALL! Even above alcohol, cigarettes, recreational & pharmaceutical drugs, work & sex combined! And it’s seemingly the most widely acceptable drug. It’s no wonder so many use it subconsciously as a way to numb their pain.

Consuming unhealthy foods and avoiding dealing with ‘uncomfortable’ emotions contribute to form acids and toxins in the body which give rise to many undesirable symptoms, weight gain, bad skin and accelerated ageing.

Instead of temporary methods of cosmetic enhancement, why not try detoxing and nutritional replenishment which can help you stay more youthful-looking for years to come and can even reverse the ageing process to some degree.

Detoxification cleanses stored acids and toxins from the body tissues through a healthy diet and herbal magic. It is truly the single most important step that you can take towards increased health and vitality and is essential before true cellular regeneration of your physical body can take place.

  5. Do you have dry skin, eczema, skin rashes, or other skin complaints?
  6. Do you experience headaches or other niggling aches?
  7. Are your eyes often swollen in the mornings or have dark circles?
  8. Do you experience insomnia, or restlessness?
  9. Do you experience mood swings or get easily irritable, angry or anxious?
  10. Do you often experience a bloated stomach, flatulence, or water-retention?
  11. Do you have 1 or less bowel movements a day?
  12. Do you regularly suffer from constipation or diarrhoea?
  13. Do you have high blood pressure or elevated blood cholesterol?
  14. Do you eat ready-made foods, fried or refined foods such as white bread, pastries, pasta, or foods containing white sugar?
  15. Do your regularly take stimulants, eg coffee, tea, chocolate, sugary foods/drinks, to get you through your day?
  16. Are you a regular user of pharmaceutical or recreational drugs?
  17. Do you smoke cigarettes?

1-5 As with those who got zero ‘yes’ answers, you are likely to feel even better and more vibrant with 1 or 2 detoxes a year.

5-10 You may like to consider doing a full body detox to help you achieve your health goals and gain increased energy & vitality.

10+ Well done for being honest! Imagine how much better you’ll look and feel after you dump the toxic load!

    Here are some suggestions for effective detoxing:

  • Start your day with a Zing! Drink warm water with lemon & lime juice. Or juice some fresh oranges, lemons & limes and blend together with fresh garlic and ginger to make a truly revitalising, zinging juice! :-)
  • Drink 1 litre of freshly juiced green juice everyday. Celery, cucumber, pepper, parsley, romaine lettuce, kale, spinach, rocket are great! Mix and match! Add ginger and garlic.
  • Do deep breathing exercises 3 times per day
  • Use a natural bristle brush to dry skin brush your body towards your heart before showering to give your lymph circulation a boost
  • Sing in the shower!!
  • Drink 3-4 litres of pure filtered or mineral water per day to keep you hydrated and help flush out the toxins.
  • Have FUN!!! Participate in any activity that you love and makes you smile! :-)
  • Rest & Rejuvenate (sleep, meditation, massages, reflexology).
  • Laugh for no reason! Watch a comedy. Tell your friends some jokes (laughter releases your ‘happy chemicals’ and is sooo detoxing!)
  • Add purely natural whole food supplements and dehydrated green vegetable powder to your water or juice instead of artificial isolated vitamin/mineral supplements.
  • Include herbs known for their cleansing properties such as pau d'arco, milk thistle and burdock root.
  • Plan your detox time and meals in advance.
  • Eat organic food. Non-organic food contains a multitude of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and other nasties.
  • Eliminate sugar, alcohol, tobacco and drugs.
  • Eliminate wheat, yeast and dairy products.
  • Eat lots of raw green leafy salads and sprouts (mung bean, alfalfa, broccoli etc).
  • Make sure you’re getting your essential fatty acids. Use 1 tablespoon of Flax oil, Olive oil or Udo’s oil with your salads/veggies.
  • Increase your activity by devoting 30-60 minutes a day to build up a sweat (brisk walking, cycling, rebounding are great!).
  • Work on your emotional wellbeing, deal with situations that trouble you, and remember what you’re grateful for in your life.

Cleansing Reactions

Some people experience headaches, flu-like symptoms, diarrhoea and other cleansing reactions at the beginning of a detox as toxins are eliminated from the body. Your energy may also dip before it rises as toxins are released.

It is important to take it slowly and remember these cleansing reactions are part of your body’s natural healing process so don’t try and block them with drugs! Make sure you are drinking plenty of water and fresh green vegetable juice to help neutralise the acids and flush out the toxins. Ideally consult a qualified Naturopath before embarking on any extreme detox plan.

Renewed Vitality

Once you’ve completed your detox you can look forward to a renewed vitality and radiant appearance.
