Fashion is the key to change, reinvention, and inspiration! “Autumn/winter 08” oozes sultry, sexy gothic style, a battle between Punk Rock Chick VS Royal Gothic Chic. This look is less trashy cool and higher class with an aristocratic feel.
A periodic sense of Goth, a mixture of black lace, revealing sheer tops, ruffles, frills and bows, sequined embellishments to adorn the new trend! That doesn’t end here….plaid has trickled down into the high street and has become one of the biggest trends this season, taking us back to a seventies retro and English royal feel. Knotted scarves as seen first, by the Queen Mother! Her English style influences are now the catwalk look and not forgetting lots of tweed!
Shoes go from one extreme to the next, still leggy and lethal! Whoop whoop! Designers have taken stilettos to the next level, the experimental wedges and heels are very refreshing to see. They become ones armour or weapon as they have taken a sharp turn (literally) as seen at the Carry on Sex, HumanHi party! High bondage sandals, spiky or super flat’s with intricate details. Lace ups, buckled up boots are thigh high and dangerously sexy, shiny, patent black a MUST for this season. Experiment with patterned print tights with a loose fishnet, abstract, mono or opaque.
Leggings or skinny trousers need that rock n roll edge to them, I’m talking skin tight PVC or leather, think tough biker chick, with a romantic, Modern Victorian embellishments! White ruffled shirt a MUST!
Whatever the trend this season it’s all about dressing old English. Dramatic costume, gothic or aristocratic style. Block buster film “The duchess” staring Keira Knightley depicts the periodic fashions and goes in tail with the inspiration of the designers of today’s latest looks. Extremely OTT and yet diluted down versions for consumer wear ability.
