CHANGES
I think in the current climate most people are in fear of what's coming next as far as a recession is concerned, but my thoughts are wherever there's an election, especially in the great US of A. There is always a change in the air, be it good or bad and at the moment, people in the business community are starting to get scared because of economic crisis, which filters down to the working class person, single mothers or fathers, the homeless, orphans, charities and the day to day people just trying to make ends meet. I feel that CHANGE is good - it makes us realise the values that as a nation, we are ALL forgetting. From the simple "Hello" to someone in the morning on the street and general discipline in youth culture, to sitting at a table with friends and family, just taking an interest in each others lives. A lot of which is sadly lacking in society today and in this TV REALITY age, realism is being lost to instant stardom which lasts all of 2 seconds. We have to guide our friends, lovers and family to greater strengths so they can take more interest in our existence on this planet before we destroy it.
There's talk of a recession - well I feel we have been in it for a few years now and now that OBAMA has been elected PRESIDENT we will start to see more POSITIVE CHANGES, as the world is COLOURFUL - not just one colour, but a BENETON tapestry of different cultures who all have a say in how the world is turning.
In the 80s for people of colour there were more artists, in the charts, on TV, in the business, music magazines, etc - It was a period of colour, glamour, the birth of technology and fashion and everyone counted as individuals, from the Soulheads to the Punks and New Wave Stylists.
At present I'm involved in a positive project which is best explained if you go to the website www.flashbackproject.org.uk. It's in its infancy at the moment, but getting larger by the day. LETS fight the recession by uniting as ONE BODY, ONE BLOOD! WE CAN TAKE CONTROL of our LIVES as can our CHILDREN, our FAMILIES and our FRIENDS, just by caring a LITTLE BIT MORE. If you LOVE yourself you can LOVE others equally.
