TJW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa
by Nobel Literature Prize Nominee and former New York Times Travel Columnist William Tomicki
Guests often say “How suite it is” when relaxing in plush accommodations at the wonderful JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa in Summerlin just outside of the Las Vegas Strip.

Those who think that a suite is a suite is a suite probably haven’t experienced the luxurious rooms at the JW Marriott Las Vegas. From the moment we entered our room, we were enveloped in a warm ambience of total luxury and comfort. Spacious accommodations and rich furnishings are enhanced by marble flooring, a wet bar and refrigerator, high-speed Internet and 24-hour room service. French doors lead out to balconies with expansive city, mountain or golf views, which all complement the welcoming care of this resort’s own little touches.
It is ENTREE’s belief that true luxury can always be seen in the details—in hotel rooms that means the niceties that only the most committed of resorts deliver. At the JW Marriott, many of the suites come equipped with options of living room seating arrangements and a dining room suite for entertaining. But what really sets them apart are the fabulous marble bathrooms equipped with plush terry bathrobes and oversized towels.

Peek inside and find yourself in a series of rooms worthy of ancient Rome. The bathrooms stretch far and wide, are completely tiled with marble and are surrounded by gleaming glass. A giant Jacuzzi tub with rejuvenating jets invites long soaks, while a separate rainfall shower offers its own form of water relaxation. His and hers walk-in closets are banked by dual vanities and a water closet containing a bidet.
The 548-room, 54-acre resort boasts 79 suites which offer a number of different styles and dimensions. There are 20 two-bedroom Vista suites, 20 one-bedroom Balcony suites, 18 Junior suites, 11 one-bedroom Corner suites, four Parlor suites, four one-bedroom Regent suites and two Presidential suites. The grand two-bedroom suites run over 2,200 square feet. When asked what he considered “THE” suite to rent, Frank Idris, director of room operations, recommended the Troon Presidential Suite, 2,340 square feet of pure opulence. Idris added that all of the resort’s suites offer “comfortable elegance with a home-away-from-home feel.” The luxe Marriott bedding package, dual-line telephones for modem or fax at the desk and bed, personalized voicemail, coffeemaker, personal safe, e-mail and guest services via the television are standard.
Close enough to indulge in the Las Vegas amenities, but far enough away to enjoy golfing on one of the courses surrounding the resort or to explore beautiful Red Rock Canyon, to escape in the luxurious Aquae Sulis Spa lounge by the grass-edged pool or experience a wide selection of dining and entertainment options, the JW Marriott lives up to its name and is an oasis is the often overcrowded Las Vegas desert. Prices range from $289 to $1,200 per night. JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort and Spa, 221 N. Rampart Blvd., toll free: (877) 869-8777, www.jwlasvegasresort.com.
